As title, does a new battery similar for like need to be coded to a automobile or is information technology only a instance of connect up terminals and away y'all go.

Is it detail car related?

You may need to resync the windows/sunroof though, detailed in the owner's handbook

The but coding that I'm aware of is if you decide to utilise an AGM vs Flooded cell battery. As they have different charging characteristics, you should utilise a good scan tool to let the reckoner responsible for the charging system if you're using 1 vs the other.

I recollect I volition buy a new battery for w212 AGM bombardment at the weekend.

The car isn't getting a great corporeality of utilize over this period. I'm thinking a decent trickle charger peradventure a better option to try at first.

This is one of the reasons I'm quite pleased to take a Mercedes now rather than an Audi. The picayune pointless recoding to fit a battery was one of the many annoyances I constitute with Audi. Information technology'south a battery. The onboard computer should be able to work out that is changed without needing to be coded.

On the trickle charger front, I can sort of recommend the ctek chargers. I've had one for a few years and it does a super job of reconditioning and charging. The simply irritation I have is that the button that changes the way seems to stop working after five years - all as well common. I think information technology must corrode. Fortunately pressing it like a million times seems to eventually piece of work. Other than that robust and very good. I'd definitely try one before a new battery.

Usually a date code stamped on the terminal or on a sticker on the battery itself.

No coding required, but did mine plug and play but shop around for one mercedes use Varta i went to europarts bought the same battery around £forty/50 cheaper

With the Audi you have to tell the encephalon that you are fitting a new battery as it volition charge information technology differently to the worn out one. I don't know if the same applies to whatever Mercs.

The reason for coding a bombardment to a car is to allow the smart charging system know what the bombardment characteristics are and to adjust accordingly.
Say for example you put a larger chapters battery on, without coding it, the vehicle will not take this into account without coding, and the benefits and extra price volition be lost.
As has been said, replacing like for like volition not need to exist coded in.

This afternoon I changed the battery on my 2005 W211 E320 V6 diesel fuel. Took out the original xv year quondam battery!!
Anyhow, swapped flooded for agm, just had to reprogramme the windows. Easy to exercise.

I really bought a lead that plugs into the obd and you connect a power supply to information technology, and it keeps all the cars functions while the bombardment is disconnected.
Did all that, but forgot to switch the power supply on! 'kin idiot or what.
